Lead Unreal Engine Artist

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Other End is looking for a Senior Unreal Engine Generalist to execute and oversee the creation of photoreal, feature quality Assets, Environments and FX in Unreal Engine. Developing virtual production content for film, media and commercial productions, you are optimizing our proprietary virtual production workflow within Unreal Engine and supporting a team of artists creating hyper-realistic visual experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create Assets, Environments, and FX for virtual production projects using Unreal Engine and a variety of other design & software programs.
  • Develop shaders, tools, FX, modules, and/or various assets for the internal library.
  • Help with the continued development of a collaborative pipeline/workflow for UE.
  • Collaborate with department heads and strategic partners on R&D projects and collaborations, help with the planning and execution of the technical and artistic approach of such projects.
  • Source and implement solutions to technical problems and ensure the highest quality output within reasonable timeframes.
  • Maintain thorough understanding and knowledge of industry-standard tools and technologies and ensure the in-house processes follow industry advancements and updates.
  • Onboarding, mentoring and training of junior artists and generalists and assisting with the recruitment process & hiring decisions.
  • Participate in client meetings from time to time, providing technical oversight and understanding on a project level, with the ability to speak clearly and confidently about the work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with Unreal Engine; familiarity with nDisplay and Virtual Production modules of Unreal Engine an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience as an Environment Lead or CG Supervisor in a traditional VFX environment
  • Experience in Maya/3ds Max/Houdini/Mari/Substance/Quixel/Git/Perforce.
  • Excellent knowledge of UE Blueprints & C++ an advantage.
  • Photogrammetry and texture photography skills an advantage.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve technical problems
  • Excellent communication skills, including with clients from time to time
  • General knowledge of filmmaking terminology
  • Prior filmmaking and / or on-set experience a plus

Portfolio of work required (demonstrating technical artistic ability (composition, scale, color, light) that includes Unreal Engine based work).

Unreal Engine Generalist

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Other End is looking for an Unreal Engine Generalist to join our collective of storytellers and innovators, working with virtual production and real-time workflows, designing and developing 3D environments including lighting and shades assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create stunning, world-class photoreal imagery for virtual production content for film and TV using Unreal Engine.
  • Design levels and environments, lights and shades assets
  • Develop shaders, tools, FX, modules, and/or various assets for the internal library.
  • Be a part of the in-house R&D team and projects, solving problems in real time
  • Troubleshoot and brainstorm solutions to problems with the team as they arise.
  • Ensure the highest quality is delivered, within a reasonable timeframe.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of industry experience working with Unreal Engine 4.
  • Excellent lighting, shading, and layout skills
  • Experience in Maya/3ds Max/Houdini/Mari/Substance/Quixel/Git/Perforce.
  • Knowledge of UE Blueprints & C++ an advantage.
  • Passion for real-time rendering and creating photorealism.
  • Ability to work with a small team and take direction when needed, but also to work independently.
  • Solid organization skills, adhering to protocols such as file structures, naming conventions, and other established protocols.
